Lawrence Memorial Hospital has a new prefix for its phone numbers: 505.

The old prefixes 749 and 840 still work, but LMH leaders sought the switch to eventually have all hospital numbers under one prefix.

LMH spokeswoman Janice Early-Weas said the changeover initially cost $16,000. Nearly all four-digit extensions will remain the same.

The hospital has targeted a public promotion about the new 505 prefix for June, when a new directory is published. LMH eventually will launch a new main phone number, 505-5000, but will retain the 749-6100 main phone number, Early-Weas said.
