Board to discuss funding projects

Lawrence school board members will consider funding for three projects at schools at the 7 p.m. Monday meeting at district headquarters, 110 McDonald Drive.

One project is to expand the western straight-away at the South Junior High School track to eight lanes. Administrators recommend accepting a $64,912 bid to be paid for from the 2005 bond issue funding.

With another project, board members will consider supplementing donations with $9,300 from the 2005 bond issue to construct a student break area at Central Junior High School. Also, board members will vote on adding $6,327 to the low bid to pay for the $86,100 it already appropriated to construction of a bus turn-off lane along Louisiana Street at Lawrence High School.

The school board will also recognize the state champion Free State High School and Southwest Junior High School chess teams. The Lawrence High School state champion girls basketball team and LHS boys runner-up team will also be honored.
