Eudora teenager killed in Mexico

An 18-year-old Eudora man was killed in Mexico last month shortly before he was to leave the country, where he had spent most of March visiting friends.
Morton Danielsen said his son Austin Kane Danielsen was killed in Matamoros, a border town directly south of Brownsville, Texas.
Newspaper accounts from Matamoros report that Austin was beaten to death and that his body was found March 29 near railroad tracks.
Morton Danielsen said his son flew to Monterrey, Mexico, in early March to meet friends with whom he stayed for three weeks.
He then traveled to Matamoros, about 200 miles east of Monterrey, to spend a few days with more friends before traveling back home.
His father said that Mexican authorities were still investigating the slaying. No arrests have been made in the case.
Morton Danielsen, a Norwegian native, said his son enjoyed traveling and had planned to visit Norway once he returned from Mexico.
Austin Danielsen spent three years at Eudora High School before transferring to Lawrence High School. Records from LHS indicate he attended the school in the 2007-2008 school year but did not graduate.
A memorial service is pending.
