Bills mailed for personal property tax
The Douglas County Treasurer mailed second-half personal property tax bills on Friday.
The taxes are due May 10. The bills also include taxes for real estate, commercial trucks and public utilities.
Sending a second-half reminder is a change in procedure from previous years, Treasurer Paula Gilchrist said. Previously, reminders were not sent.
Because of the expense of mailing the second-half tax bills, the treasurer will not automatically mail payment receipts. Taxpayers should photocopy the bill and payment before mailing, or use their canceled check as proof of payment, Gilchrist said.
Taxpayers who want a receipt mailed should call the office at 832-5178.
