Sex crime reports released by police

Reports on several sex crimes that have occurred since November were released Tuesday by the Lawrence Police Department.

Police spokesman Sgt. Paul Fellers said he didn’t know why the information wasn’t released sooner. But, he said, oftentimes after the incidents are reported, police may not have an opportunity to talk to those involved for a period of time.

“Obviously, we do not want to put any information out to forewarn individuals that we may be wanting to talk to or (who) might interfere with our ability to conduct an investigation,” Fellers said.
