Brew to Brew Relay aims to raise $200K

Competing breweries in Lawrence and Kansas City are banding together to raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

The Brew to Brew Relay, set for this Sunday, is expected to raise more than $200,000 for the foundation, as about 3,000 runners will make their way from Kansas City’s Boulevard Brewery to Lawrence’s Free State Brewery.

The 43.5-mile run is in its 14th year, and the teams of one to five people will begin the relay at 6 a.m. at the Boulevard Brewery, 2501 Southwest Blvd., in Kansas City, Mo.

The 10-leg race costs $25 per participant, and registration closes at 11:59 p.m. today, though race organizer Lou Joline said in-person registration will take place from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday at Ward Parkway Shopping Center in Kansas City, Mo.

There is also a $12 fee for food and beer following the race at Free State Brewery, 636 Mass.
