Headquarters leaders attend conference

Leaders from Headquarters Counseling Center, Lawrence, recently participated in the Substance Abuse & Mental Health Services Administration's first conference for crisis centers on the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline in New Orleans.

Marcia Epstein, Headquarters director, and Kelly Barnum, assistant director, attended the event that featured several presentations, including one in which Epstein served as a panelist, regarding Crisis Center Partnerships in Disaster. Other presentations included Crisis Centers in Community Behavioral Health, and Crisis Centers in Community Recovery.

Headquarters is certified as meeting national standards in suicide prevention and related services, and serves as the only Kansas center on national suicide prevention hot line networks, the National Hopeline Network, 1-800-SUICIDE, and the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, 1-800-273-TALK.
