Autism expert to give lectures

An expert on autism will give two lectures on the topic Thursday at Kansas University.

Morton Ann Gernsbacher, a University of Wisconsin distinguished professor of psychology, will deliver “The Science of Autism: Beyond the Myths and Misconceptions” as part of the Ferne Foreman Fisher Lecture Series, sponsored by KU’s psychology department.

Gernsbacher will speak at 7:30 p.m. in Budig Hall, room 120. The lecture also will be telecast live at the auditorium at the Edwards Campus in Overland Park. She also will speak on “Autism and Imitation: A Neurofunctional Model” at 3 p.m. in the Alderson Auditorium of the Kansas Union.

Both lectures are free and open to the public.

Gernsbacher, internationally known for her research, also is the mother of an autistic son.
