Stay and play

To the editor:

Jerry and I are big Kansas University fans who graduated from Missouri University, have been KU football season-ticket holders for 14 years, own a downtown Lawrence business, and oppose the relocation of the KU-MU game to Arrowhead Stadium.

The move seems purely economic on the university’s part with million-dollar profit guarantees (Journal-World, Jan. 23, 2007), so we should look at it from that standpoint, too.

After all, if they are spending it at Arrowhead and in Kansas City, they ain’t spendin’ it here.

So STAY AND PLAY in Lawrence.

Do not use, sell or give away your tickets.

Watch, eat, tailgate and shop in Lawrence that Saturday. Some local businesses already are planning special promotions. Redeem your unused tickets to get free meals, discounts and other local benefits.

Your $35 ticket will be worth more at home in Lawrence than its face value – and you’ll get to enjoy the game in your hometown where it belongs.

Stay and play in your hometown.

Sue and Jerry Neverve,

Lawrence
