Misguided critics

To the editor:

I read with interest the Sept. 8 editorial criticizing athletic director Perkins and Chancellor Hemenway for not addressing coach Mangino’s outburst against Raimond Pendleton. My question is, why should they? This was a teaching moment between a coach and a player.

A few short years ago we wouldn’t have even known what was said unless we had a good imagination or were exceptionally good at reading lips from long distances. So there’s no cursing in football? C’mon!

This appears to me to be just one more unnecessary slam against the university administration. And to the “fan” who submitted the grainy, barely understandable piece of film to YouTube – just because you have the ability to do something, does that mean you have to do it?
