Self-defense classes for women scheduled

Three Kansas University greek chapters are helping to bring self-defense classes to the KU campus next week.

The classes on Wednesday will honor Ali Kemp, a former Kansas State University student from Leawood who was killed at a swimming pool in June 2002. Ever since her death, friends and family have been offering women’s self-defense classes in an effort to make sure other women do not become victims.

The classes, which will be at Robinson Gymnasium, will run from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Registration is available on-site or on the TAKE Defense Web site, www.takedefense.org.

Sponsoring greek chapters at KU are sororities Pi Beta Phi and Alpha Delta Pi, and fraternity Sigma Phi Epsilon.
