It's a car with a cause.
A fully restored 1977 Volkswagen Beetle was awarded Tuesday to Dennis and Connie Detweiler of Lawrence.
The couple won the pink Bug at Lawrence Memorial Hospital's "Stepping Out Against Breast Cancer" benefit dance, conducted Saturday.
Das Autohaus, 1045 N.J., supplied and restored the vehicle.
This year's benefit dance raised about $50,000, which will be used to provide mammograms for uninsured and underinsured women in Douglas County, support services through the breast center at LMH, and education and community outreach for early detection programs.
