Reward being offered for vandalism info

A prank at Eudora City Cemetery is not sitting well with local residents. The Eudora Lions Club, along with business and city leaders, have pooled several hundred dollars in reward money for information about vandalism to the cemetery’s directory.

Police said on the evening of Oct. 14 at least nine shots were fired through two panes of glass on the cemetery directory near Seventh Street. The city estimates it will cost $1,000 to replace.

“That’s supposed to be a sacred place, a final resting place for people, and for vandals to choose that location to engage in their illegal behavior is particularly disturbing,” said Matthew Daigh, Eudora Lions Club president.

The Lions Club donated the directory in May 2005 and plans to help replace it.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers, 843-TIPS.
