Smell outside Lawrence Memorial investigated

The emergency entrance to Lawrence Memorial Hospital was closed for about an hour early this morning while police and firefighters investigated a smell outside the building at 325 Maine.

The entrance, on the north side of the building, was closed about 1 a.m., according to a nursing supervisor.

However, the emergency room remained open to patients, and patients were taken into the building through LMH’s west entrance.

The emergency room entrance reopened about 2 a.m.
