October 20, 2007

The Midland Railway will offer an expanded schedule of excursion train rides through the area's fall foliage during this weekend's Maple Leaf Festival in Baldwin City - and special haunted train rides.

The daytime excursions through southern Douglas and northern Franklin counties will depart hourly from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. today and Sunday. Tickets will be available at the depot ticket window today and Sunday on a first-come, first-served basis. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for children ages 4-12.

Members of the Baldwin City Community Theater will be aboard and trackside for haunted train rides, called Terror Tracks 2007. The rides are set for Friday and Saturday evenings, running through Oct. 27, with departures at 6:30 p.m., 8 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.

Tickets for the haunted trains will go on sale at 5:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. Tickets are $12 for adults or $6 for children.
