Farm Service Agency offers emergency loans

The Farm Service Agency is accepting applications for emergency loans to help farmers in Douglas, Franklin, Shawnee and several other counties recoup losses suffered to crops and livestock during severe storms and flooding that occurred from June 26 to July 25.

The deadline for applications is March 18.

Loans are available at interest rates of 3.75 percent and may be used to cover physical or production losses.

Loans for physical losses can be used to replace installations, equipment, livestock and buildings or homes. Loans to cover production losses may be used to buy feed, seed, fertilizer or livestock, or to make payments on real estate and chattel debts.
