Lawrence Memorial Hospital is starting its annual blood drive to benefit local patients.
People can donate from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19, at the hospital's auditorium, 325 Maine. The Community Blood Center must collect at least 580 pints of blood every day to meet the needs of the area. Last year, 28,000 people needed a blood transfusion and needs are expected to rise, according to the center.
To make an appointment to donate, call the hospital blood bank, 749-6176, or visit www.esavealifenow.org and use sponsor code lawrencehosp.
