Trust teachers

To the editor:

I am going to keep this simple and straightforward. While it is true that arms are for hugging and not for hitting, there is a time and a place for everything. Between classes, in the school corridors is neither the time nor the place for student hugging.

Schools have the responsibility of ensuring that ALL students are safe and move on time to their next classes. This is no small task. Teachers are well aware of the emotional as well as the academic needs of their students and provide many school programs to meet these emotional needs, as well as opportunities for hugs.

We as adults must try to support the efforts of our teachers and school administrators to keep our children safe and on time to class. Teachers truly have the best interests of your students at heart. Please don’t forget to give your own child a big hug today.
