Volunteers needed for conservation fair

The city of Lawrence Home Energy Conservation Fair and Sustainable Homes Tour will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Free State High School. Event organizers need volunteers to greet exhibitors, help exhibitors set up and clean up. ¢ The River City Reading Festival seeks volunteers to help with various literary events Sunday at the Lawrence Arts Center. Volunteers will help with setup and cleanup, portray characters, greet and check in participants, and help with children’s activities. ¢ The Roger Hill Volunteer Center announces the 2007 Make a Difference Day on Saturday, Oct. 27. Volunteers for this annual event should register now in order to be matched with a project of their choice.

¢ Body Boutique will have its second annual WOW Run, a 5K run and 1-mile stroller-friendly walk, Saturday, Oct. 27. Volunteers are needed to patrol the course and help with pre-registration packets and race day events. The race begins at 8 a.m., and some volunteers will be needed at 6:45a.m.

¢ Cordley School is looking for volunteers to provide child care for individuals attending Love & Logic, a parenting skills class at the Lawrence Virtual School. Volunteers are needed from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Oct. 22 and 29, and Nov. 5. To volunteer, contact Kathy Boyd at Bert Nash at 830-1842.

¢ The Douglas County RSVP program seeks volunteers ages 55 and older to assist with upcoming special events, including the Douglas County Emergency Preparedness Fair, Make a Difference Day and a variety of holiday-related events.
