Home care helpers earn statewide honors
Two people affiliated with Douglas County Visiting Nurses, Rehabilitation and Hospice Care were honored during the annual meeting of the Kansas Home Care Association, conducted Sept. 19 in Topeka.
Patti Pope, a registered nurse who has worked at Visiting Nurses for 11 years, was named Professional Honoree of the Year for exhibiting distinguished performance in an extenuating circumstance in one or more of the following areas: teamwork, coordination of patient care, delivery of patient care, and special event or contribution.
Beverly Cates, a volunteer for Visiting Nurses for more than 20 years, was selected as Home Care Hero Honoree of the Year, an award reserved for physicians, volunteers, agency advisory board members, patients’ family members or friends.
