The Free State High boys soccer team knocked off Leavenworth, 3-0, Saturday to improve to 8-4 on the season.

After a lackluster first half in which the Pioneers controlled the tempo, the Firebirds came out strong in the second half.

Free State’s scoring came from a couple of familiar faces, as Alex Clayton netted one goal and Erik Slan picked up a pair. Parker Liebl and Andrew Heck added assists.

Frank Hurtig recorded the shutout in goal, his second shutout in a row.

The Firebirds will face SM West at 4 p.m. Tuesday.
