Must-see play

To the editor:

I have just returned from Lawrence High School’s production of “The Jellybean Conspiracy.” This is must-see theater for all of us who have been ridiculed for being different or those of us who have done the ridiculing.

From the opening, “Don’t Laugh at Me,” through the vignette stressing that while “accessibility gets me through the door” but “inclusiveness gives me a friend to walk down the hall with” to the second act story of living in a family with a child with autism, the audience was drawn into the lives of the characters and hopefully gained some empathy for all our children with special needs and their families and friends.

The final performance will be at 7 p.m. today. I strongly recommend your attendance. Congratulations are certainly in order for the cast, crew, directors and visionaries who wrote and produced this fine piece of theater with a message.

Lynne Bodle,

Lawrence
