Courts, federal offices among Monday’s holiday closures

A few government offices and public agencies will close Monday for Columbus Day.

All Lawrence city and state administrative offices will be open. The Douglas County District Court will be closed, but other county offices will be open.

The postal service won’t make deliveries Monday, and its business office will be closed. Express Mail deliveries will be made. FedEx and UPS will make regular deliveries.

District court offices in area counties will be closed, but city offices in most area towns will be open. County administrative offices in Jefferson County will be closed, but offices will be open in Leavenworth and Franklin counties.

Federal offices in the general services administration and the federal courts will be closed.

Most banks will be closed because it is a Federal Reserve System holiday, but some local banks may be open Monday.

Lawrence Transit System and KU on Wheels buses will run.

The Lawrence-Douglas County Health Department, 200 Maine, will be open. The Lawrence Workforce Center, 2540 Iowa, Suite R, will be open. The Lawrence Public Library, 707 Vt., will be open.

The customer service department of the Journal-World will be open regular hours. USA Today will be printed.
