Energy meeting set for Thursday
How Kansas and the rest of the country will meet its growing energy needs will be the topic of conversation during a town hall-style meeting Thursday in Topeka.
The event, “Conversation on Energy,” is organized by ConocoPhillips and its meeting partners: Kansas University’s Energy Council, Washburn University, Kansas State University and the Center for Sustainable Energy.
The meeting is set for 7 p.m. at the Kansas History Museum and Library, 6425 S.W. Sixth Ave. in Topeka. Registration is required. To register – the deadline is 7 tonight – visit www.conocophillips.com/energy and follow the links.
The meeting will invite attendees to ask questions and share ideas on energy solutions considered secure, reliable, available and environmentally responsible.
David Kerr, secretary of the Kansas Department of Commerce, is scheduled to moderate the meeting, which will include featured panelists:

¢ Merl Lindstrom, general manager for research and development at ConocoPhillips.
¢ Steve Baccus, president of Kansas Farm Bureau.
¢ Ronald R. Hammerschmidt, director of environment for the Kansas Department of Health and Environment.
¢ Stuart S. Lowry, of the Kansas Energy Council.
