Accident report

¢ One man was treated and released at Lawrence Memorial Hospital on Monday after a two-vehicle accident on U.S. Highway 24/59 in front of 1924 E. 1450 Road. Andres Vera-Gonzalez, 18, of Lawrence, was driving a 1992 Toyota pickup when he slowed and was rear-ended by a 2004 Chevrolet pickup driven by Kevin Diehm, 39, of Parker. Vera-Gonzalez was injured. Guadalupe Andrade-Serna, 31, of Lawrence, was a passenger in the vehicle. He was not injured in the accident. Both men were being held Monday for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement in the Douglas County Jail.

Burglaries and thefts reported

¢ A 26-year-old Lawrence man reported to Lawrence Police that his 1998 Chevrolet Malibu was stolen early Saturday. The car, parked in the 2600 block of Maverick Lane, was valued at $4,000. Also in the car were bank and credit cards and $50 in cash.

¢ A MacIntosh Powerbook laptop was taken Saturday from Radio Shack, 601 Kasold Drive. The theft was reported to Lawrence Police by an employee.

¢ Lawrence Police are investigating the theft of $1,300 worth of stereo equipment from a vehicle. A 43-year-old Lawrence man reported the theft Sunday. The vehicle was parked in the 2600 block of West 25th Street.

¢ A 2007 Hyundai valued at $34,840 was taken Saturday afternoon from Laird-Noller Hyundai, 2829 Iowa. An employee reported the theft to Lawrence Police.

¢ A Ford Thunderbird was vandalized while it was parked in the 1100 block of Indiana Street early Sunday, according to a Lawrence Police report. An 86-year-old Lawrence man reported the theft.

Condition reports

An Ottawa woman and an Atchison man, who were injured in two separate area wrecks this weekend, have been treated and released from the hospital.

Heidi Gohl, 37, Ottawa, was treated and released from Kansas University Hospital in Kansas City, Kan., hospital spokesman Bob Hallinan said. According to Ottawa police, Gohl was injured Sunday afternoon in a wreck involving several cars in the Country Mart parking lot, 2138 S. Princeton Circle Drive in Ottawa.

Police cited Gohl for driving while suspended and no proof of insurance. Officers also cited Gretchen Kille, 86, Ottawa, for failure to yield the right of way and not wearing a seat belt. Gohl’s vehicle struck Kille’s vehicle, and three other parked vehicles sustained damage.

After a separate wreck Sunday afternoon on the Kansas Turnpike 17 miles east of the East Lawrence exit, Theldon C. Womack, 60, Atchison, was treated and released from KU Hospital, Hallinan said. His 2003 Ford Excursion hydroplaned about 4:15 p.m. and struck the wall, according to a Kansas Turnpike Authority accident report.

Condition updates were unavailable Monday for Dustin Benjamin, 28, Ottawa, and Dale Harley, 24, Gardner, said Dennis McCulloch, a KU Hospital spokesman. The two were injured in a wreck at 10:20 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of North 900 Road and East 2200 Road, south of Eudora, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.
