Prairie Village ? Genny Salvatore, a senior at Free State High playing her first year of competitive golf, shot a 92 to place ninth Monday in the Sunflower League golf tournament at Meadowbrook Country Club.

Free State placed eighth in the team standings with 889 strokes – a combination of Monday’s round and the Free State Invitational – while Lawrence High was ninth with 974. As a result, FSHS picked up a point in the World Company Cup standings, which tracks the head-to-head results of the two big-class city schools throughout the year.

“She has done a great job of improving throughout the year.” FSHS coach Craig Hershiser said of Salvatore. “She manages her game well and understands her strengths and weaknesses.”
