Two injured in single car accident in Eudora

October 1, 2007

Lawrence police said an injury accident occurred about 10:20 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of North 900 Road and East 2200 Road in Eudora.

A BMW 32i was traveling westbound when the driver lost control, crashing the car in the south ditch. Dustin Benjamin, 28, Ottawa, and Dale Harley, 24, Gardner, were transported to Kansas University Hospital by helicopter, according to Lt. Kari Wempe, Douglas County sheriff's spokeswoman. A nursing supervisor would not confirm their condition. A third man, Rodney Athey, 31, Lawrence, refused treatment at the scene.

Umm....Lt Kari Wempe is a spokesperson for the Douglas County Sheriff's Office, not Lawrence Police Department. Great fact-checking by the LJW, as usual.
