Burglaries and thefts reported

¢ A 22-year-old Lawrence man reported the theft of a concrete power saw worth $1,000 to Lawrence police on Tuesday. The theft occurred about 7 p.m. Tuesday in the 1700 block of Massachusetts Street.

¢ A 26-year-old Lawrence man reported a burglary and theft to Lawrence police on Sunday. Items reported stolen included a men’s white gold wedding band with a 1 carat princess-cut diamond worth $2,000 and $100 in U.S. currency. The crime occurred between noon Nov. 21 and 10 p.m. Sunday.

¢ A 23-year-old Lawrence woman reported the theft of an Apple PowerBook G4 laptop computer and an Apple iPod shuffle to Lawrence police on Tuesday. The items reported stolen are valued at $1,020. The crime occurred between 11 p.m. Monday and 7 a.m. Tuesday in the 300 block of Weston Square.

¢ A 24-year-old Lawrence woman reported a 2006 Ford Taurus was keyed in the 2400 block of Louisiana Street. The total estimated value of damage is $1,200. The incident occurred between 1:30 p.m. Sunday and 7:30 a.m. Monday.

District court

¢ A 51-year-old Lawrence man was convicted by a jury Wednesday of making a felony criminal threat against a 39-year-old woman.

Lawrence Jackson repeatedly threatened to kill the woman who was living with him on June 4, according to the Douglas County District Attorney’s office. The woman said she was afraid Jackson would attack her or his children.

The woman called police from a friend’s residence after she left home under the guise of going to work. The defense claimed the victim made up the story because she was mad at Jackson over his possible involvement with another woman.

Jackson is facing a sentence of five to 17 months in prison. He will be sentenced by Judge Paula Martin at 10:30 a.m. Dec. 28.
