Simple lessons

To the editor:

Aw, shucks. I have been miss lead. At age 48, I have growed up thinking that beeing reared on a farm wuz a good thing. Thanks Mr. Schartz fer opening my eye (the other one was pecked out by a rooster) with your letter of Nov. 22.

My momma learned me to reed reel good before I started school. I also had sum other things learned to me: 1) A hard day of honest work never hurted no one. In fact, that value haz served me, my wife and young-uns perty dern good in a rewarding and by all mezures perty successful career over the past 27 yearz. I even have two young-uns in collig now and don’t need no liberal programz to pay fer ‘um. 2) Camping out in the pascher and seeing a sunrize painted by my Maker is a good thing. So is acknowledging that Maker, and nobudy can tell me no differnt. 3) Sharing whut you got with otherz that don’t have what you got is a good thing. 4) Being humble and thankful on a daily basis (not just Thanks Giving) for what you been gived is a good thing.

Small town folks may have their shortcumingz, but in a pinch I’d rather depend (and have many times) on them than you.

Gotta go now. Larry the Cable Guy is about to start. Since we got electricity last week I don’t want to miss it.

Green Acres is the place for me!
