Oncology nurse wins LMH Vision Award

Janice Schwartz, an Oncology Certified Nurse at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital Oncology Center, recently received the LMH Vision Award, the highest honor in the hospital’s recognition program.

The award recognizes individuals or teams who have made a major impact on LMH or the community, and recipients are nominated by other hospital employees and selected by a committee.

Schwartz was instrumental in developing a local Oncology Nursing Society chapter in Lawrence in 2005, and has served as its chapter president for the past two years. The chapter, now with 52 members, has donated equipment to both the center and Health Care Access, and has provided money for the Douglas County Relay for Life and Stepping Out Against Breast Cancer.

For the award, Schwartz received $500, recognition on her employee badge and a trophy.
