Museum seeks county cowgirls

The Watkins Community Museum of History will host the ExhibitsUSA traveling exhibit “Cowgirls: Contemporary Portraits of the American West” from Dec. 15 through Jan. 19.

As part of the exhibit, the museum staff is seeking photographs of Douglas County cowgirls with an explanatory essay up to 250 words. Both the picture and explanation will be added to the museum’s permanent collections. Provide a photographic print or a digital image on a CD. Images and essays may be e-mailed to Watkins director Rebecca Phipps at rebeccap@watkinsmuseum.org. Be sure to include “Douglas County Cowgirl” in the subject line.

Submissions are due by Dec. 12. All participants and their families will be invited to the exhibit opening on Dec. 14. For more information, call Phipps at 841-4109.
