Chamber names speaker for annual meeting
James Jones, president and chief executive officer of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Institute for Energy, will discuss energy issues as guest speaker for the Lawrence Chamber of Commerce’s annual meeting Jan. 11.
Jones’ presentation, “Fueling a Healthy Economy,” follows up on his chamber responsibilities, described as working to increase the variety of the U.S. energy supply and associated infrastructures; advance international cooperation on energy issues; protect national energy security; promote understanding of changes to the global climate and its effects on the environment; and expand economic opportunities whenever possible.
Jones is a retired general who served 40 years in the Marine Corps, including a final assignment in which he helped the North American Treaty Organization organize discussions on energy issues and the defense of critical infrastructures to advocate energy security as a core part of NATO’s future missions.
