American Legion, VFW share community award
The American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars will receive CornerBank’s Community Cornerstone Award for November.
The bank will welcome veterans for a reception set for 4:40 p.m. Wednesday at the bank, 4621 W. Sixth St. The public is invited.
The Legion’s Dorsey-Liberty Post 14, celebrating its 75th anniversary this year, has more than 600 members and sponsors five American Legion baseball teams each year, the most of any post west of the Mississippi River.
The VFW’s Alford-Clarke Post 852, which also has more than 600 members, raises money to help at VA centers and donates to numerous veterans’ activities.
