Smith family upset with delay of trial

? The family of Kelsey Smith say they’re “bitterly disappointed” that the trial for the man accused of abducting and killing their daughter was delayed.

Kelsey’s father, Greg Smith, said the delay will cause his family additional hardship. He said Kelsey’s sister, Lindsey, will have to change her August wedding date, and her college graduation could be affected.

Edwin Hall is charged with capital murder, rape, kidnapping and sodomy. Eighteen-year-old Kelsey Smith was abducted from a suburban Kansas City Target store parking lot in June and killed. Prosecutors have said they will seek the death penalty if Hall is convicted.

District Judge Peter Ruddick has said Hall’s trial would likely be moved to sometime in the fall of 2008.
