Four face aggravated battery charges

Charges were filed Monday against four men arrested in the Saturday beating of a man in the 1600 block of Harper Street.

Facing aggravated battery charges are Eliseo Munoz, 25, Lawrence; and Plutarco Haro-Carlos, 23, Jaime Haro, 19, and Ruben Rodriguez, 21, all of Olathe. They could face a maximum of 172 months in prison and a possible fine if convicted.

The victim, Ty Miller, a 43-year-old Lawrence man, was flown to a Kansas City area hospital. No information about his condition was available Monday, but an assistant district attorney said in court that his injuries were serious.

According to a witness, Miller was walking along Harper when four men surrounded him and began beating him. The witness put Miller in the back of his pickup truck and drove until he flagged down a police officer.

Bonds were set at $75,000 for Haro, $60,000 for Munoz and Rodriguez and $30,000 for Haro-Carlos. The suspects are to appear in court again at 2 p.m. next Tuesday.
