Energy options

To the editor:

It seems ludicrous to me that any state official would criticize other state officials for not allowing poisonous gases to pour into the air on the western edge of Kansas. We all know of the disastrous results of some of those gases. It’s time to stop wrangling and start thinking!

I would suggest as possible food for thought an item in Nov. 17 Journal-World that tells of an award-winning solar module recently installed at Southwest Junior High School. Even without knowing the difference between a solar module and a solar panel, I thought immediately of an article that appeared in the second or third week of October. It described an idea of a man in California who thought that we should train people to refit houses and buildings with solar panels and better insulation. Such jobs, he noted, could not be outsourced. We have the sun. We have the workforce. We have the wind for self-tending wind turbines. What are we waiting for?
