Fire displaces residents

Two Lawrence men were taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital after their house caught fire early Saturday morning.

Gregory Pelligree, and his son, Tony, were both treated and released from the hospital.

According to a Lawrence-Douglas County Fire & Medical report, they are displaced and are being assisted by Red Cross.

Fire and medical crews responded to the call at 2:47 a.m. at 2609 Pickwick Place. The report states that crews extinguished a fire in a front room of the one-story, wood-frame residence.

The estimated value of damage to the structure and its contents is about $30,000, according to the report.

Lawrence-Douglas County Fire & Medical Division Chief Rob Kort said the cause of the fire is under investigation.
