Sunshine Acres school under new management

November 15, 2007

Sunshine Acres Montessori School, 2141 Maple Lane, is operating under the management of TFI Family Services, part of the nonprofit agency's efforts to diversify its services.

TFI Family Services has more than 40 years of experience working in behavioral health child welfare, including foster care.

TFI has had an office in Lawrence for the past 16 years, serving families dealing with foster care and adoption issues.

Sunshine Acres, licensed for 100 children, has operated for 35 years under the "superb leadership and professional commitment" of Susan Mozykowski, the school's founder and director, said Kathryn Efinger, director of project development for TFI.

"We will continue that legacy," Efinger said.

My grandson attended the pre-school program here for 3 years and it was AWESOME. He had the best teachers and was taught so many useful skills that prepared him for regular school, such as social skills, proper manners, learning to be independent and responsible for his actions, being a helper not to mention learning pre-academic skills, listening skils and learning to cooperate. It was the best thing I could have done for him. I think 3 years home with mom is enough and a good learning pre-school such as Montisouri method is great for preparing children for the real school career. It's all a learning process, step by step and it sure gave my grandson an excellent foundation, because he's doing very well in school.
