Offices, agencies announce holiday hours

A few government offices and public agencies will close Monday in observance of Veterans Day, which falls on Sunday this year.

All Lawrence city and Douglas County administrative offices will be open Monday. The Douglas County District Court will be closed.

The postal service won’t make deliveries Monday, and its business office will be closed. Express Mail deliveries will be made. FedEx and UPS will make regular deliveries.

District court offices in area counties will be closed. City and county administrative offices in the area will also be closed, except for city offices in McLouth and Ottawa.

State offices and federal offices in the general services administration and the federal courts will be closed.

Most banks will be closed because it is a Federal Reserve System holiday, but some local banks may be open Monday.

Kansas University classes will continue as normal.

Lawrence Transit System and KU on Wheels buses will run.

The Lawrence Workforce Center, 2540 Iowa, Suite R, will be closed. The Lawrence-Douglas County Health Department, 200 Maine, will be open. The Lawrence Public Library, 707 Vt., will be open.

Lawrence Meals on Wheels will deliver. All Senior Services of Douglas County programs and services will continue as normal.

The customer service department of the Journal-World will be open regular hours. USA Today will be printed.
