Money allocated for utility projects

City commissioners unanimously agreed to spend large sums of money on several utility projects.

Commissioners agreed to a pair of contracts for design work related to the city’s proposed Wastewater Treatment Plant along the Wakarusa River south of Lawrence. The contracts total about $3.5 million and are with CAS Construction/Professional Engineering Consultants and Black & Veatch/Garney Construction.

Commissioners also agreed to seek bids for a new 1.5 million gallon water tower to be built near Sixth Street and Stoneridge Drive.
