33-year-old killed in auto accident

? A 33-year-old Eudora man died Wednesday night after a car accident in Linwood.

Jeremy Cooper was a passenger in a car that rolled multiple times and struck a tree near Golden Road and 206th Street in Linwood. Cooper died at the scene, according to a report from the Leavenworth County Sheriff’s Office.

The driver, Jason Arnold, 22, of Linwood, was extricated from the vehicle and flown by air ambulance to St. Luke’s Hospital, Kansas City, Mo., with nonlife-threatening injuries.

According to the report, the sheriff’s department was notified of the accident at 10:56 p.m. When officers arrived on the scene, evidence and witness statements indicated the car had been westbound on Golden Road at a high rate of speed when the vehicle left the roadway. The vehicle flipped several times before striking a tree.

An investigation is ongoing. According to the report, vehicle speed and alcohol are believed to have been contributing factors.
