There still has been no official word out of Kansas University regarding the severity of Brandon Rush’s right knee injury.

Yet reports continue to back JaRon Rush’s declaration in Sunday’s Journal-World that his brother has a torn anterior cruciate ligament and will be out four to six months.

ESPN’s Andy Katz on Monday night cited an unnamed high-ranking KU source backing what former UCLA player JaRon told the Journal-World on Saturday, that Rush has a torn ACL.

An announcement regarding Rush’s status is expected from KU today or Wednesday at the latest.

Katz’s sources indicated Rush could be practicing by Nov. 1.

JaRon Rush told the Journal-World on Monday night that his brother would have surgery June 6.

“Nothing has changed. Brandon told me he has a torn ACL and will have surgery next Wednesday in Lawrence,” JaRon said Monday.

The 6-foot-6 Brandon Rush, who declared for the NBA Draft on April 26 but elected to not sign with an agent, had hoped to compete at the NBA Draft camp next week in Orlando, Fla.

He suffered his knee injury while attempting a layup last week.
