Documentary explores children’s resiliency

A documentary on the traumatic childhood story of Dr. Henry Remple will be shown June 3.

Along with the viewing of the film will be a discussion of children’s resiliency. The event will start at 2:30 p.m. in the Lawrence Public Library auditorium, 707 Vt.

Remple has devoted his adult life to the mental health profession. As a child, his family immigrated to the United States to escape the Russian Revolution.

Remple’s story has been featured in a documentary “Henry Remple: Finding Hope in Troubled Times.”

Among those who will take part in the discussion: Remple, Dr. Shane Lopez of Kansas University, Dennis Johnson of Bert Nash Community Mental Health Center, and Kathy Farewell, a third-grade teacher at Hillcrest School.
