CornerBank to honor volunteer today

Martin Jones is the winner of CornerBank’s Community Cornerstone Award for May, recognizing the Kansas University retiree for his volunteer work.

The bank will conduct a reception honoring Jones at 4:30 p.m. today in the lobby at the bank, 4621 W. Sixth St. The public is invited.

Jones’ volunteer service includes work with Bert Nash Community Mental Health Center, Douglas County Warm Hearts, Lawrence Presbyterian Manor, Clinton State Park, Lawrence United Fund, Meals on Wheels, Kiwanis Club and KU’s athletics department.

In recognition of Jones’ service, CornerBank – which is celebrating its 135th anniversary this year – will contribute $135 on his behalf to the Presbyterian Manor Good Samaritan Fund.
