An entry sponsored by Pinnacle Career Institute won Best of Show during the Lawrence High School Power Mechanics 2007 Lawnmower Competitions, conducted Friday at the school.

The institute, 1601 W 23rd St. Ste. 200, joined Lawrence Workforce Center and LRM Industries Inc. as sponsors for the annual competitions, which require participating teams to locate a used riding lawnmower, repair it and then ride it in the Best of Show, Drag Race, Tractor Pull and Track competitions. Winning the Best of Show contest were students Robb Ferguson, Bobbie Flory and Casey Maxon.

The competitions are designed to help students learn marketing skills, and demonstrate their abilities to work on small-engine machinery.
