Free State High has been designated outright Sunflower League softball champion. League athletic directors decided Monday to make the Firebirds sole champs even though FSHS and defending champ Olathe East lost only one league game apiece.

Free State’s league record was 10-1; Olathe East went 7-1 and had three games rained out.
