Mother’s Day gift: A winning lottery ticket

Lawrence woman claims $2,000 prize

Mother’s Day worked out quite well for Jean Dunn.

Her two sons, Dana and Dallas Dunn, bought their mother 15 lottery tickets and gave them to her as a Mother’s Day present. The 82-year-old woman lost most of them the same day, but somehow, one of the three that she kept turned out to be worth $2,000.

“Lottery tickets light her up,” Dana Dunn said. “Isn’t that cool? It’s so cool.”

Dunn, who lives at Pioneer Ridge, immediately called her sons to tell them the good news.

The lottery tickets were the $2 “crossword puzzle” brand from the Kansas Lottery.
