Man hospitalized with burns from brush fire
A man went to the hospital by ambulance on Wednesday night after being burned while setting a controlled brush fire in southern Douglas County.
It happened shortly before 5:45 p.m. in the 500 section of East 1400 Road near Baldwin City.
“There was a pile of brush that the person was trying to burn or start on fire, and he somehow got burned,” said Capt. Joe Hoelscher of Lawrence-Douglas County Fire & Medical.
Hoelscher said he could not release the man’s name or age but said he went to Kansas University Hospital’s burn unit by ambulance.
