Lawrence police are investigating an attempted robbery that involved a reported physical altercation early Wednesday near the Kwik Shop, 1714 W. 23rd St.

Two Lawrence men, ages 19 and 20, reported to police that at 12:40 a.m. as they were walking south on Ousdahl Road toward the Kwik Shop, a passenger in a white Toyota four-door car yelled at them. The vehicle stopped, and two passengers got out and walked toward them.

The 19-year-old Lawrence man reported that one of the men punched him in the face and demanded money. The 20-year-old Lawrence man told officers that the other passenger also demanded money from him.

When he refused, the man pushed him to the ground. He tried to get up, and the suspect punched him in the head, the 20-year-old Lawrence man said. The two victims then ran from the area and called police. Officers did not find the suspects' vehicle, and the two victims refused medical treatment, according to a police report.

suppose the attackers were: a) from topeka; b) Baker ruffians (see 100-years-ago); or c)recent rap show attendees???
