FSHS falls

? The Free State High baseball team fell inches short of completing a successful rally Monday, falling 6-5 to Shawnee Mission West.

Down 6-3 entering the top of the seventh, the Firebirds put two men on for catcher Andy Petz, who hit a shot to right-center field that hit off the top of the wall The result was a two-run double, and Free State (8-2 overall, 4-1 Sunflower League) stranded Petz on the bases to end the comeback threat.

Junior Jordan Dreiling suffered the loss for the Firebirds, tossing a complete game in his first outing of the season.
